Prospective Marriage Visa (300)

The main purpose of applying for this visa is to allow you to come to Australia and then marry your intended spouse and live as husband and wife. You must genuinely intend to marry your fianc(e). You must also genuinely intend to live with your fiance(e) as husband and wife.

This visa allows you to enter Australia and marry your intended spouse (fiance(e)) within the visa's nine (9) month validity period. Your fiance(e) must be either an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
You must be outside Australia when you apply for this visa, and when the visa is granted.

If you are granted this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Enter Australia on this visa before you marry your fiance(e).
Note: If you are granted this visa and then marry your fiance(e) before entering Australia on that visa, your visa may be cancelled.
  • Enter Australia by the specified initial entry date.
  • Marry your fiance(e) while this visa is still valid, which is for nine (9) months after it has been granted. The marriage can take place either in or outside Australia provided you have entered Australia on this visa at least once before the marriage takes place.
  • Before this visa expires, lodge an application for a Spouse visa in Australia to apply to remain permanently in Australia.
  • Immediately notify the office handling your application if you change address or your circumstances change. Such changes in circumstances may include you having a child with your fiance(e) or after you marry, your relationship ends.
