Employers may now proceed with applications for endorsement under the Far North Queensland Designated Area Migration Agreement (FNQ DAMA) for the occupations approved under the FNQ DAMA agreement. The skilled occupation list under FNQ DAMA includes occupations that are not being able to be filled by Australian workers, and provides for certain concessions regarding required skills and experience, 10% TSMIT concession and English concession for certain occupations.
Once endorsed by Cairns Chamber of Commerce, businesses will have to apply for a labour agreement with the Department of Home Affairs and can then nominate overseas workers under the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS subclass 482) visa program. The assessments of the applications for endorsement by Cairns Chamber of Commerce will commence after 14 October 2019.
The TSS subclass 482 visa holders granted under the labour agreement stream - FNQ DAMA may have pathways to permanent residency for selected occupations by applying through subclass 186 visa .
The skilled occupation list approved under the FNQ DAMA is available here.
Businesses can access the FNQ DAMA if they are actively operating in FNQ for at least 12 months, have no adverse information, have genuine skills shortages that cannot be filled by Australian employees and wish to nominate overseas workers for full time positions within their businesses for occupations on the DAMA skilled occupation list.
Migration Plus team has extensive experience with Labour Agreements and can assist sponsors with the applications for endorsement by the Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Labour Agreement and TSS Nomination and Visa applications under the FNQ DAMA TSS 482 Labour Agreement pathway.
