FNQ DAMA - Important information Sessions for Business Sponsors

Cairns Chamber of Commerce is holding information sessions for businesses interested in sponsoring overseas employees under the FNQ DAMA migration pathway.

We encourage our clients to attend an information session held on Tuesday, 29 October 2019 or Wednesday, 30 October 2019 organised by the Cairns Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Home Affairs to find out whether this may be a suitable pathway for your business.

Is your business struggling to attract certain skills sets?

The Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Department of Home Affairs and VETASSESS have collaborated to educate the Cairns Business Community around the launch of FNQ DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement) to address the skills shortage in our region.

Whilst the number one priority is employing local residents, the FNQ DAMA provides a tailored solution to businesses in the region to fill skills gaps that can't be filled by local workers. The FNQ DAMA will assist a range of industries including tourism, hospitality, agriculture, shipping and health and help to drive economic growth.

"We are huge supporters of jobs for Australians and particularly locals first, but there are many businesses having difficulties in hiring and retaining skilled workers, and we encourage those businesses looking to fill the jobs they can't currently fill to start putting their cases together now," Cairns Chamber of Commerce President Nick Loukas said. "We have been given a cap of 200 applications for the first year, which we are anticipating will be easily reached."
